Featured Pro: Dr. Eugene Cherny - Heartland Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery

Eugene J. Cherny, M.D., F.A.C.S., is the director of Heartland Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in Des Moines, Iowa.  He studied medicine at Rush Medical College in his hometown of Chicago.  Dr. Cherny has been practicing in Des Moines since 1989 and is Board Certified in Plastic Surgery by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Cherny has been recognized for excellence in Plastic Surgery many times and by many organizations.  He has been awarded three times as one of "Americas Top Surgeons", by the Consumers Research Council of America.  As one of the few members in Iowa of the prestigious American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, he has been awarded three times the certificate of Advanced Education in Cosmetic Surgery.

Dr. Cherny is a full adjunct professor of surgery at Des Moines University.  The American College of Surgeons has honored Dr. Cherny with a full fellowship.

Dr. Cherny has served his country in the United States Army as an attending surgeon at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C. and in Operation Desert Storm.  He has received the Army Achievement medal and retired as a Major for the United States Army Medical Corps.

Dr. Cherny has served in medical mission trips to Honduras and El Salvador; performing complex pediatric reconstruction in impoverished medically underserved areas.  In 2006 The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery has awarded Dr. Cherny, their award for community service.
